Our number one suggestion is to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) class if it is offered in your area. We have shown a lot of riders how to ride and given them some of the basics shown here but there is no substitute for the professional training given in the MSF Course.

I was headed back to the CBXMAN showroom yesterday because there was a ride for charity starting from our place. I was on the way back from the CBX Rally in Sonestown.
For some reason I went off the road in an area I ride every single day to and from work and crashed my CBX. I have no recollection of what happened.

Lots of folks like to take their bikes or scooters with them on trips and it's worth doing because it's fun going riding in different places. The problem is that lots of riders have never transported a bike before or only do it once a year and are not experienced enough to know the proper methods to properly securing a vehicle for trailer transport.
